Officially opened its first Kentucky medical marijuana dispensary on Jan. 29, 2026, located at 172 Imperial Way, Nicholasville. The dispensary serves qualified patients with valid state-issued medical cards, offering flower and, expectedly, edibles. Operating hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Positioned in the heart of Kentuckyโs scenic Bluegrass region, Nicholasville is a community rich in history, heritage, and small-town charm. The city was named in honor of Colonel George Nicholas, a distinguished statesman and one of the principal architects and signers of the Kentucky Constitution in 1792, often remembered as one of the founding fathers of the Commonwealth. As a prominent lawyer, influential politician, and substantial landowner in neighboring Fayette County, Nicholas played a significant role in shaping the political and economic foundations of early Kentucky.
Beyond his legal and governmental contributions, he was also deeply involved in the regionโs developing agricultural economy, particularly the early hemp industry, which was a vital crop for rope, textiles, and other essential goods during that era. His efforts helped establish the Bluegrass region as an important center of commerce and farming. Today, Nicholasville continues to reflect its historical roots while serving as a growing and vibrant community, blending its rich past with modern development and maintaining the welcoming spirit that has characterized the area since its earliest days.
